Third meeting of the Małopolska Space Sector Council took place on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Committee for Innovation and Modern Technologies of the Małopolska Regional Assembly, the Krakow City Hall, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, the Krakow Technology Park, the Association of Space Sector Employers, the Małopolska Regional Development Agency, the University of Agriculture in Krakow, the Krakow University of Technology, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Liftero, Open Cosmos, ATMOS Space Cargo, and the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region.
During the meeting, the issues discussed included new space sector companies starting their operations in the region, the planned opening of a first-cycle programme at the Faculty of Space Technologies at AGH University of Science and Technology from next year, and the International Astronautical Congress, which will be held in Poland next year.
Attention was also drawn to the development of the space sector in domains such as medicine, biotechnology and artificial intelligence, and to the fact that growing military spending in Poland and throughout Europe is a huge opportunity for the development of space industry companies.
A significant portion of the meeting was also devoted to the Sectoral Council for Space Industry Competences established by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the trade missions planned by the Marshal's Office for space sector companies and other forms of support for the industry in the region, and upcoming events in Krakow, such as the Space Resources Conference (September 3-4) and the European Rover Challenge (September 4-6). The dates of both events were combined to attract more international guests and specialists to Małopolska.
The space sector has the potential to become one of the main drivers of the Małopolska economy in the future, already achieving great successes every year and whose development in the region is supported by companies and institutions through initiatives such as the Małopolska Space Sector Council.
