Electrical engineering and machinery

Products manufactured within this sector (including machines and electrical appliances) are the most important exports of Małopolska. The sector includes the manufacture of electronic and optical products, electrical and mechanical devices, as well as means of transport and their components. Investment outlays on machinery and equipment are related not only to the implementation of modern technologies. To a large extent, these are expenditures on the transfer of innovations to companies. Thanks to this, the sector is characterized by a high percentage of innovative companies (57% of Małopolska companies have introduced at least one product, process, organizational or marketing innovation). Małopolska is an important exporter of electromechanical products. The export of electrical machines and equipment and their parts, as well as non-rail vehicles and their parts and accessories, amounted to several billion euros in recent years. The dominant area of ​​activity of Małopolska companies within this specialization is the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment.
